Femme was born from friendship, shared vision, and a deep love for community.
Susan and Kat, two local mums living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, first crossed paths unexpectedly in 2022 through their children’s daycare. From the moment they met, they felt an instant connection and quickly discovered a mutual dream; to create a beautiful, welcoming space where women could feel empowered, seen, and transformed, through the art of hair.
Over coffee chats and school pickups, that dream slowly evolved into something more tangible. They knew Freshwater was the place, but it took time and a lot of patience to find that perfect space. Upon finding the ideal location they poured everything into making it feel just right. Every detail was considered, every corner designed with intention and care, for the women they hoped to welcome through their doors.
Femme isn’t just a salon, it’s a space built by women, for women. A place where you can recharge, relax, and reconnect with your most confident self. With Freshwater and the wider Northern Beaches community in need of a nurturing salon that truly puts clients first, Femme. was created.

I’ve spent the past 22 years doing what I love as a hairdresser in Darlinghurst and Potts Point, and for the last 10 years, I’ve been lucky enough to call my own little space “Kitikatto Hair” in Darlinghurst”home.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some incredibly strong, sassy, and sophisticated women. Many of them have become more than just clients, they’re friends, role models, and daily sources of inspiration. I hope that when they leave my chair, they walk out feeling seen, empowered, and confident.
I truly believe in the power of community, especially among women. We need to show up for one another, lift each other up, and share our strength. That connection, that support, is where the real magic happens.

Hey there, I’m Susan a long time Northern Beaches hairdresser who believes every client should be treated like family. For over 15 years, I’ve been fortunate to work with a beautiful community of women throughout my career from running my own salon in Balgowlah to maintaining meaningful, long term client relationships.
My love for hair is rooted in creating an experience that feels both luxurious and personal, where every guest can truly unwind, feel seen, and leave feeling their best.
But beyond the salon chair, my proudest achievement is being a mum to my beautiful little boy Miller, who reminds me daily of the strength and joy that comes from nurturing others.
Now, with Femme Freshwater, I’ve poured my heart into building a space that reflects everything I value, warmth, connection, and style. I wanted to create a sanctuary for the incredible women of Freshwater, where walking through the doors feels like a moment you look forward to, not just for your hair, but for the experience, the energy, and the people.
